    • Harry was the master of the SS Andalusia on 17 March 1941 which was sailing as part of Convoy SL-68 on a voyage from Freetown to Oban and carrying a cargo of 3231 tons of cocoa, At 21.07 hours on the 17 Mar 1941 the ship was torpedoed by U-106 north of Cape Verde. The crew members abandoned the ship in two life boats before the ship sank. Harry was in charge of the starboard boat with 23 occupants which hoisted sail and steered towards Bathurst, but after making about 130 miles they were picked up by the Portuguese steam passenger ship Nyassa and landed at Funchal. The port boat with the chief officer and 18 men remained on the scene until daylight and then encountered the lifeboats from Tapanoeli, and the life boats headed for Cape Verde.
